YONGWEI SHANGHE JU, ZHENGZHOU
On the south bank of North Longhu, overlooking Financial Island, Yongwei Shanghe Ju brings together architecture, landscape, and interior in a single, considered vision. Nineteen staggered low-rise residences are arranged to preserve privacy and frame the surrounding scenery — some enjoying garden views up to 63 meters deep.
The project unites two acclaimed designers: architect Raymond Lee and landscape architect Chuang Chun-Kwong. Molteni&C designs shape the interior architecture and furnishings throughout the development's show residence.
The curation of pieces showcased span generations of design, including the Gliss Master wardrobe by Vincent Van Duysen; the D.655.1 single unit and D.154.2, D.154.5, and D.153.1 armchairs by Gio Ponti; the Devon sofa and Wish bed by Rodolfo Dordoni; Half a Square by Michael Anastassiades; the Woody chair by Francesco Meda; the Porta Volta armchair by Herzog & de Meuron; and Panna Cotta by Ron Gilad. The designs are positioned throughout the residence, enhancing the spaces with their timeless allure.

Gio Ponti’s D.154.2 armchair captures the architect’s luminous spirit and masterful approach to form with its embracing, sinuous silhouette. The iconic armchair was born from a deeply personal project, the Villa Planchart in Caracas (1953-1957) - the private residence of art collectors Anala and Armando Planchart, which they commissioned Gio Ponti to design from top to bottom as both the architect and the interior designer.
Gio Ponti’s Round D.154.5 armchair is a visionary icon that captures the spirit of mid-century innovation and modernity. With its groundbreaking shape and pioneering use of materials, this design, originally created in 1954, marked a pivotal moment in Ponti’s career, embracing new possibilities born from the era’s optimism and technological advances. Now reissued by Molteni&C, iconic masterpiece is made new with remarkable fidelity.
An emblem of Italian design heritage, the D.153.1 armchair carries the unmistakable touch of Gio Ponti. Originally created in 1953 for his private residence on Via Dezza in Milan and reintroduced by Molteni&C from Ponti’s own archival drawings, the piece captures the designer’s modernist spirit, inviting a dialogue between history and contemporary living.
The Porta Volta Chair by Herzog & de Meuron is an immediately striking piece. The design’s defining element comes from the solid wood back which is curved in a U-shape, creating an inviting and enveloping feel. The floating backrest extends further to create armrests. If desired, the backrest can be bisected by a customizable cushion. Three U-frames with a unique curved “finger joint” lend the piece a detailed softness. The four legs and back are angled slightly outwards which provides a stable and comfortable repose.
Inspired by the iconic Italian dessert, Panna Cotta low table by Ron Gilad balances visual lightness with solid structured form. Enriching contemporary interiors from the living room to the bedroom, this table embodies a poetic paradox with its delicate form and impactful allure.
The Gliss Master by Vincent Van Duysen redefines the art of organization with a wardrobe system that combines bespoke tailoring, refined materials, and thoughtful design. Conceived to adapt seamlessly to individual needs, it transforms storage into an elegant ritual. Every component, from doors and shelves to accessories and finishes, can be personalized, allowing each Gliss Master to become a unique reflection of its owner’s style.
